ACE Showcase - 10/27/24
ACE Showcase kicks off with a thrilling high-flying encounter as Fuerza Mistica (Dragon Mask and Dark Phoenix) and Air Raid (Talon Towns and Hawk Hensley) face off in an exhilarating tag team battle. The crowd at ESPN Wide World of Sports is electrified as Dragon Mask starts things off with Talon Towns, each showcasing incredible agility with flips, counters, and evasions that leave the audience cheering for more.
Dark Phoenix tags in, bringing his fiery speed and crafty lucha tactics. He executes a stunning tilt-a-whirl headscissors on Hensley, only for Hensley to recover and respond with a thunderous dropkick that sends Phoenix flying. Air Raid soon takes control, expertly utilizing double-team moves and quick tags to keep Dragon Mask and Dark Phoenix on the defensive.
However, Fuerza Mistica bounces back with their own spectacular high-flying maneuvers, including a breathtaking double springboard plancha over the top rope onto Air Raid. Talon Towns and Hawk Hensley barely manage to regain their footing, bringing the action back into the ring for a fast-paced flurry of close calls and near-falls. With the clock ticking and both teams exhausted but determined, Air Raid takes the upper hand.
In the closing moments, Talon Towns sets up Dark Phoenix for Air Raid’s finishing move: The Sky Drop— a perfectly synchronized double-team springboard splash and leg drop combination. Hawk Hensley covers Dark Phoenix for the 1-2-3, securing a hard-earned victory for Air Raid at the 12:33 mark.
As Air Raid celebrates their victory, The Shadows—Shadow #1 and Shadow #2—slip out from the crowd, dressed in their all-black attire and blending in with the darkness around the ring. They strike without warning, catching Air Raid off guard and unleashing a vicious assault. Talon Towns takes a brutal double clothesline, and Hawk Hensley finds himself thrown into the steel steps as The Shadows dismantle Air Raid with cold precision.
The Shadows, eerily in sync, execute a double-team move on Hensley—a brutal combination that leaves him motionless on the mat. The mysterious duo stands over Air Raid’s fallen forms as the crowd watches in stunned silence. Then, without a word, The Shadows disappear back through the crowd as quickly as they arrived, leaving a powerful message for anyone daring to challenge their dominance in the ACE tag division.
Back from break, we cut backstage to see Asombrosa chatting with a group of crew members, discussing his recent matches and thanking them for their support in his native Spanish. Suddenly, The Enchantment Rico Cruz struts into view, flashing his signature cocky grin. He dismisses the crew members, clapping his hands for them to scatter as he steps up to Asombrosa, sizing him up with a smirk.
“Ah, mi amigo,” Cruz says with exaggerated charm. “Here you are, still trying to make an impression on these… common folk.” He gestures dismissively around him. “But see, ACE is all about standing out, being unique, and having that special… enchantment.” He taps his chest arrogantly. “Something you wouldn’t understand, of course.”
Asombrosa, unphased, responds, “You talk about being special, Rico, but I haven’t seen anything impressive. You want to prove you’re the ‘Enchantment’ around here? Then stop talking and step into the ring with me.”
Cruz scoffs, brushing a hand through his hair. “You? Step into the ring with me? I’m The Enchantment, the future of this business. I’d hate to embarrass you in front of your fans.”
Asombrosa steps closer, looking Cruz in the eye. “Let’s see if you can actually back up those words, Rico. Next week, one-on-one. I’ll show you what real corazón looks like.”
Cruz laughs, leaning back with feigned confidence. “Fine. Next week, I’ll show you and everyone else why I’m destined for greatness.” He offers a mocking little bow, adding, “And when I’m done, maybe you’ll learn a little respect for those above you.”
Asombrosa watches as Cruz struts off, shaking his head and muttering, “We’ll see who’s above who, amigo.” The camera lingers on Asombrosa, setting the stage for an exciting showdown next week on Showcase.
The camera pans across the backstage area to Shania Wheatley, as she greets viewers warmly, standing next to Sammy Vice, who sports his trademark smirk and confident posture.
“Sammy, tonight you’re facing off against a powerhouse in Obsidian Black,” Wheatley begins. “How do you plan to handle someone with his strength and athleticism?”
Vice laughs, adjusting his sunglasses. “Shania, Shania, Shania… strength is one thing, but brains? That’s my specialty. Obsidian may have the muscles, but he’s stepping into the ring with a true Miami mastermind. This guy won’t know what hit him.”
He points to the camera, his cocky smile widening. “You’re looking at the future here, Shania. Obsidian Black? Just another step on the ladder. He’ll be black and blue by the time I’m done with him.”
As the interview wraps up, Vice winks at the camera and heads toward the ring. His theme music blares, and he confidently strides down, taunting the crowd. Moments later, Obsidian Black makes his entrance, greeted by cheers as he moves with fierce determination, eyeing Vice with laser focus.
The match kicks off with Vice trying to dodge and weave around Black, landing quick jabs and cheap shots while avoiding Black’s powerful swings. Obsidian Black, however, quickly takes control, using his impressive strength to ground Vice with a series of power moves, including a hard-hitting spinebuster that sends a jolt through the crowd.
As the match progresses, Vice pulls out all the tricks in his arsenal—using the ropes for leverage, distracting the ref, and even poking Black in the eyes to break free from holds. Vice’s underhanded tactics keep him in the fight, and he nearly secures a pinfall after a low blow behind the referee’s back.
However, Black’s resilience shines through. He powers out of Vice’s sneaky holds and reverses an attempted Dirty Palm (Vice’s signature cheap shot) into a devastating Onyx Slam. The impact leaves Vice down for the count, and the ref slams down for the 1-2-3 at 9:09.
As Obsidian Black stands tall, celebrating his hard-earned victory, Vice rolls out of the ring, clutching his ribs and casting a bitter, vengeful glare back at Black. The crowd cheers as Black raises his fist, marking another decisive win in his ACE journey.
As we return from commercial, Gentleman Geoffrey Hastings stands poised in the ring, adjusting his cuffs with his usual dignified calm. The crowd murmurs in anticipation as Nikita Petrov’s imposing frame appears at the top of the ramp, with Anastasia by his side, smirking with disdain.
Anastasia grabs the microphone, her voice cutting through the arena with a thick Russian accent. “Look at this sorry excuse for a ‘gentleman,’” she sneers, gesturing to Hastings. “Britain… America… all of you think you’re superior, but today, the Russian Riot will crush this so-called ‘gentleman’ and show your countries how weak you truly are.”
The crowd erupts in boos, but Petrov simply sneers, relishing the reaction as he steps into the ring. The bell rings, and Petrov immediately uses his size and strength, overpowering Hastings with a series of heavy forearm blows and stiff body shots that echo throughout the arena.
Hastings, though overmatched in strength, uses his quickness and technical skill to mount a comeback. He targets Petrov’s knee with calculated strikes, attempting to chop down the big man. They go back and forth, and the fight soon spills outside the ring. Hastings evades Petrov’s brutal swings and counters by slamming Petrov’s arm into the barricade, exploiting the Russian’s aggression.
Referee Carl Simmons keeps a close watch, his count rising as both men struggle to their feet, exchanging punches as they narrowly avoid a count-out. They roll back into the ring, the intensity growing as Petrov regains control, punishing Hastings with a vicious backbreaker.
Just as Hastings rallies again, Anastasia climbs onto the apron, yelling at the ref and distracting him long enough for Petrov to deliver a low blow. With Hastings stunned, Petrov winds up and delivers his devastating Russian Sickle clothesline, taking Hastings down hard. Simmons slides in to make the three-count, and Petrov secures the win at 11:52.
As Hastings lies motionless on the mat, Petrov stands tall, arms crossed with a smug look, while Anastasia joins him, holding his arm high in victory. They look down at Hastings with disdain as the show fades to black, with Conway Marshall and James Graham reminding viewers to tune in for ACE Marquee. The screen fades as Petrov and Anastasia stand victorious, a dominant force in ACE.
